Spring Break in the Smokies.

This month, for the first time ever, we took a vacation over Abby's spring break!  How could we not?  We were invited by friends and offered a cabin, free of charge, in the beautiful Nantahala National Forest... we had to go.  The whole family was extremely excited about spending time with our friends (none of our children had met) and being in the great outdoors for a week.  We were not disappointed!

Being someone who loves photography, I took a lot of pictures, as you can imagine.  With so many pictures, it has been really hard to decide which to share with you, so I decided to pick a few highlights of our trip and keep it at that.

Okay, that was a lot of photos.  There are so many more, but I think that these pretty well capture some of the fun that we had.  I can't tell you how much fun it was to what the kids.  Abby was the only girl and could not have been happier.  She considers her sense of adventure one of her best qualities.  The boys ask when we can go back to our cabin.  Tom and I are hoping that this becomes a yearly tradition...

Good friends, beautiful weather, gorgeous scenery.  Thank you, Gustafsons!  You were so generous and we are so grateful to have had the chance to spend a week with you!

Have you had your spring break yet?  Did you get away?

What a beautiful place! And what an amazing set of memories for you and your kids! Looks like your spring break was loads of fun. I just can't get over the beautiful scenic pictures. A prairie sky is beautiful but this kind of scenery just takes my breath away. Would you believe me if I told you my ears would be popping like crazy driving around in that kind of area? I'm so unaccustomed to changes in elevation that whenever I'm visiting elsewhere it's pop!pop!pop! just going up and down hills, ha.

I'm so jealous! It's wonderful that you are able to have such a great time with the family -- I miss those days, so much. Take a gazillion pictures and treasure them always -- back up your blog! Come visit when you can...

"The Fox" is one of our fave songs! So funny to see the lyrics on the tip of page in your photo.

Wow. Looks like a Fantastic trip. I espcially like the black and white photo your kids climbing what looks to be a wooden wall or stairs.
We didn't really "get away" but My sisters and I did take my mother and her grandkids to the MN Zoo on Friday to celebrate her birthday. We got stuck in the Monorail for a couple of hours. It was quite memorable to say the least.

Looks like you had so much fun! I love the pictures, especially the one of you and your hubby. So sweet!
We did get away for spring break. We took a train and spent a few days in Seattle without kids. This was the FIRST time ever that I've left my kids and gone out of town. I missed them a lot, but it was also nice to just be an adult with my husband for a while. We walked all over downtown and saw whatever we felt like seeing. It was wonderful. I couldn't wait to hold my girls again, though.

Looks like fun!! I'm so ready for the rain to quit here in Seattle so we can get out in the wilderness. Yes, it does stop raining in Seattle eventually! But we're also taking our spring trip to our beach house in Orange Beach AL. It can't come fast enough!!! Loved seeing your pictures. I'm in love with the pie eating contest ones! :)

Looks like a fun time! I love those kind of vacations where you can escape technology. My son's spring break isn't until the end of April. Question: What is that cool backpack carrier your hubby was sporting? I could really use something like that with my youngest!
