10 Things Moms Can Do To Prepare For the Day Ahead.
I have been learning more about myself lately... mostly what I have mentioned in the Project Simplify posts. If I wake up to a messy house, I am instantly in a crabby mood. If I have to wake up and rush to pack lunches and figure out what to dress the kids in, I don't want to get out of bed. So I have a few things that I do to keep myself sane in the mornings.
1. Set the kids school clothes out before they go to bed.
2. Make tomorrow's school lunches and stick 'em in the fridge.
3. Clear off and wipe down the kitchen counters.
4. Pick all of the toys up and put them in their homes.
5. Empty your kitchen sink (either wash them or load them in the dishwasher)
6. If there are no dishes in the sink, run the dishwasher (or unload it if it's full of clean dishes).
7. If you read the Word, have your Bible sitting in your usual breakfast spot so that you see it first thing.
8. Plan to do some sort of physical exercise and have appropriate clothing out and ready to go.
9. Have a busy day out with the kids tomorrow? Pack snacks tonight.
10. Try to go to bed at a decent time so you can get enough sleep and be a happy mommy!
I try to do all or most of these things every night. #10 nearly never happens. If it did then #1-#9 wouldn't get done. #5 and #6 happen most of the time, sometimes with help from my wonderful husband. For the most part, I do these things every night, and when I do I find that my mornings go so much better. I don't wake up feeling stressed out and defeated before the day even gets going. Do you ever feel that way?
Do you have things that you do to prepare for the day ahead?

Great post, Jenny. I totally agree, I just need to get better at getting it all done every night :).
Clicked over to this post from another blog I was visiting via the Ultimate Blog Party. I am trying to find some info on the Sewing on a Budget Class you mention in your sidebar, Is that on your blog or somewhere else?
waking up to picked up house, clean kitchen sinks and lunches already packed is very helpful for me in the am!!
very helpful post - i don't have kids in school yet, but that will all begin this fall! :) my husband helps a ton with the dishes too, thank heavens. he's wonderful - or maybe he just gets tired of the pileup in the sink (he's a neat freak). either way, it's great.
one thing i do before i go to bed is write a short to-do list for the next day. i always have a HUGE permanent to-do list written down anyway, with not-so-necessary things on it, but the short one for the next day is the list of things that NEED to get done. i don't want to be remembering them in my dreams...
@joolee
Oh Yes! The To-Do list is a must for me if I am going to get anything done the next day. When I have a list I get a lot more accomplished, that's for sure!
@Dawn Chandler
I can't believe you're the first to ask, Dawn! It's not really a class, just something I'm trying to do, but I am going to do some posts on Sewing On a Budget in the very near future, so stay tuned!!!
I just discovered your blog today and I really appreciate it! :) thanks for sharing!
